A Little History About Me

Hi there, I'm Ryan, a real guy, with real pencils, real tools and a real custom woodworking and a real custom cabinetry and woodworking business. Speaking of pencils, I suggest you have more than one on hand, you'll need them. Scatter them everywhere around your work spaces and put three in your pocket.

All those projects you see on my webpages and social media are my actual projects. I built almost every single one of them with my own two hands and a little help from other people every time. Looking back, I have done a lot with my custom woodworking and custom cabinet projects! As it relates to my investment in time on every project, all the efforts, planning, delivery, installation, painting, customer service, gathering materials makes it sometimes hard to imagine I did all that.

I've built kitchen cabinets, kitchen islands, bathroom vanities, entertainment centers, desks, bookshelves, closets, laundry rooms, home offices, and home bars. I have modified existing cabinets, made refrigerators fit into tight spaces, and added new cabinets and microwaves into existing kitchens. I even built and manage my own websites!

Not a single one of the projects I designed and built was easy, cheap or fast, but they were fun, challenging and very highly rewarding in many ways to include my bank account. What I learned with every single one of those DIY Plans increased my design skills, enhanced my overall woodworking experience, and helped me make a heck of a lot of money over the years (over a million dollars believe it or not).

I remember the very first time I built a big piece of furniture. I knew I had to start with some kind of drawing so I could see what I was going to build. There wasn't any affordable design software available to me at the time within my budget. Additionally, I did not have time to learn a CAD program back then, but eventually I learned a few (Sketchup, KCD, and Fusion 360). It was challenging to draw plans when I didn't have the first clue about where to begin, proper sizing, features, etc. I do now and I hope to help you avoid that 20-year growth process.

Back when I started designing and creating custom cabinets and furniture, I used a few pieces of grid paper to do a rough, 2-dimesional sketch. I just wish there was an easier way. Well, now there is an easier way and I wish I would have created it. But that's okay because other people create things, too, and I like helping and supporting people who work hard to deliver excellence for others. So, out of curiosity and hesitance (it's the internet, ya know), I took my chances and bought this guy's program. My goodness! Why could I not have found this 20 years when I first started drawing my own furniture plans with a pencil and paper.

Fast forward to today. Now I use a few different advanced programs on my computer and phone because I design and build cabinets and furniture full-time. I still use pencil and paper to generate rough ideas and take notes because it is necessary. And I will now be using these EZ Wood Project Designer templates to work on some of my future creations. EZ means easy.
